Meet the Council



Prior to being elected Mayor Teri Lenahan had served on the City Council since 2008.  She currently works in the financial planning field.  She is also a member of the Parks Board, North Plains Events Association and Chamber of Commerce.

Councilor Sherrie Simmons has served on Council since 2015 and was elected Council President in January 2017.  She is currently working as Director of Operations at Interlink Health. She is a member of the North Plains Events Association and member of the Chamber of Commerce.Her term expires on December 2018.

Councilor Robert "Butch" Kindel has served on the City Council since  1981.  He has also previously served as Mayor.  Council Kindel recently retired from Jewett Cameron Company.  His term will expire in December 2020.

Prior to being selected to the City Council, Sheldon served on the Budget Committee.  He is now serving his second term as a Board Director of the North Plains Chamber of Commerce, currently as its President.  In addition, he also serves as a Board Director of multiple Not for Profit organizations. Sheldon is a member and officer of the North Plains Knights of Phythias, Glencoe Lodge No. 22.  With a passion for the vitality and livability of a small town, Councilor Sheldon has been an active participant in various volunteer roles.  He is a recipient of the 2012 North Plains Volunteer of the Year award and the 2015 Volunteer Lifetime Achievement award.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at Portland State University.  A veteran of the emergency vehicle industry, Councilor Sheldon currently works on the leadership team of Metro West Ambulance, headquartered in Hillsboro.  Russ and his wife, Karen, have two sons and a daughter.

 Cameron Martinez was raised in North Plains having graduated with honors From Glencoe High School.  She then lived in Hillsboro for several years before she moved with her husband and children back to North Plains. She pursued her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse with a degree in Community Health Education from Portland State University, and then received her nursing degree from the University of Portland.  She is a District Nurse (RN) for the Hillsboro School District.  She is proud to serve others and the city that she loves.
